One of the most difficult things in life is to maintain proper priorities.  There are so many things vying for our attention that it becomes hard to place them all in their rightful places.  Everything in our life can be viewed as low, medium, or high priorities but they all want to be on your high priority list.  We often make two mistakes, we either put all things on the high list or we put low and medium things on the high list while putting high things on the medium or low list.

The high priority list should be rather short.  I think it should include God, family and church and little more.  Everything else can go under either the medium or low priority lists.  What this means is that what is on the high priority list is scheduled first before any other lists are included.  And nothing on the other lists are to bump what is on the high priority list.

I have watched people who have so much going on in their lives and God and church is just another one of those things.  They will do God and church if they have time and energy left after they do what is on the other lists. All that does is lead to a frustrated Christian life.  And may be the symptom of a more serious spiritual defect.

Matthew 6:33 puts it this way, “But seek ye FIRST the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”  We all battle to obey this command.  But we must put him on our high priority list.  He must be first! He must be supreme!  He must be above all other things.  And then he will add all these other things to us.

We are back in Hosea tonight.  We will be examining the first few verses of chapter two of this minor prophet.  Hosea has been called of God not only to deliver a verbal message to God’s people in the Northern Kingdom but also to demonstrate the message with his life.  God has commanded Hosea to take himself a wife that will ultimately break his heart by fulfilling her desires in the arms of other men.  Of course, we understand that this is a picture of what God’s people are doing to him.

Tonight we will look at a summary of “The Ministry of Hosea.”  And in looking at his ministry, we will see where we need to concentrate the ministry of our lives.  Be with us tonight at Lakeview as we continue in our study of Hosea.
